With all of the other
fitting systems out there, why should you choose Accufit?
Accufit was developed
originally to aid me in providing the best fit possible for my custom frame
customers. Yes, I had a fully adjustable bicycle fitting simulator (probably the
first); I spent hours with my customers trying to determine what design would
fit both their body and the intended use. Even with years of experience, it was
a struggle to determine the best starting position on the fitting stand.
In the 1980s, I developed
a computer modeling technique that allowed me to analyze the relationship
between the riders body and the bike. These relationships included proportional
crank length, seat tube angle, top tube length, stem length and handlebar
height.
Price
Most of the fitting systems
that are available to you today are very hardware intensive and have a high
initial cost. The systems that I have found range in price from $900 to $2900
and most of that price is associated with the measuring devices. Sure, I sell
the Accufit Caliper ($400), but you dont need it to get started. I have
chosen to market Accufit Professional as annually licensable software for
several reasons. The first and most important is that your startup cost is $275.
The other compelling reason behind this decision is that while I have incentive
to continually improve Accufit, You never have to worry about purchasing
upgrades. As long as you continue to pay the annual fee, all upgrades and
enhancements are free.
Accuracy
Most of the systems
available are based on empirical data. They were derived by measuring a group of
riders and their bikes. A set of tables were then produced to provide the fit
information. This is OK as long as the bikes that were measured actually fit the
riders that were measured. I have found that most of these empirical data based
systems are unable to correctly fit riders outside of the 54 to 64
range. This is because they fail to consider the importance and influence of
such things as crank length when making their recommendations. Accufit, because
of its advanced computer modeling technology has proven to be accurate for
riders of any size. I even used it to size my son for his first bike when he was
4 years old.
Versatility
While some fitting systems
sponsored by manufacturers are able to recommend the correct fit for one of
their bikes, Accufit Professional provides a fully integrated search engine that
allows you to search a database of your inventory to find the best fit for your
customers.
Yes, you do need to do some
work up front to build your inventory database using the tools provided. Once
you have built your database, Accufit will allow you to recommend the bikes that
will fit your customers best and provide the setup data required to adjust the
bike selected quickly.
